Hello Spring!

Cheerful greetings to all! What an amazing and exciting time of the year. The birds are singing the flowers are growing and life is good! Here at Upstate, spring signifies many "rites of passage".

We just celebrated Match Day for the College of Medicine class of 2010. What a day! With the opening of an envelope, students discovered their futures. For the Colleges of Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies, we look forward to graduation with great anticipation! In preparation for this milestone, you might be considering additional graduate study, you might be looking forward to new or enhanced job opportunities, or some of you may even be considering faculty appointments.

The Office of Student Support Services would like to help you succeed in your next endeavor by providing career development resources. The Job Choices 2010 publication offers tips on resume/CV and cover letter writing, job searching and the all-important skills needed in interviews. It covers "meaty" topics like how to answer the tough questions as well as the more simplistic issues such as how to dress for an interview and background checks. What a helpful reference to have!

With May 22nd right around the corner it will soon be time to celebrate at the 2010 Commencement. Tassels will be turned and students will become alumni. What a proud moment for you individually and the Upstate community. For more details, see 2010 Commencement Planning.

While spring is upon us, please take time to reflect on your accomplishments and contributions. How have you grown during your Upstate experience? What do you take with you and what do you leave behind? We could not be more excited to celebrate this next rite of passage!
