Microbiology/Virology
This full service department offers routine bacteriologic cultures, blood
cultures (including the culture of mycobacteria from blood), acid fast
and fungal cultures, and parasitology.
This department also offers quantitative blood cultures and direct
determinations for the presence of Treponema pallidum in primary lesions.
Referral specimens for confirmation of organism identification,
legionella culture and stain, serum killing levels, and quantitative
sensitivity testing are welcome.
